Chapter 1 - The Totality
“Difference which is no difference, or only a difference of what is self-same, and its essence is unity” - G.W.F. Hegel
This section below is only meant to provide the background of the movement which we will witness as we progress further into this document. This is for those who are interested for the most generalized scheme of the movement or out of curiosity. It is not important for the reader to consult this general scheme. After a certain amount of time spent accomplishing the given tasks, the readers can look back and this will be perhaps understandable and more useful. More importantly, aside from the general positive results we would be satisfied if the readers will realize the necessity of our instructions since it derived from more than just our feelings (although that do play a big role) but the scheme of life in general.
The world and its formation composes and consists of opposing forces which binds together to form a unity. From the largest conceivable entity, the universe, to the smallest particles are unities of oppositions. Below is the two most general principal forces. We chose to call them Attraction and Repulsion because we want to convey these two forces as dynamic and mutually interacting on one another.
The concepts themselves are not original. The notion of the unity of oppositions already have a rich background behind it from both Eastern and Western traditions, notably Yin and Yang or Good and Bad or Consistency and Contradiction, etc. We will use this concept of the unity of oppositions as the guiding metaphysical framework for this document. Understanding these concepts is not necessary because they are the forces of the universe and operate even without our knowing. It is the practices according to these knowledge that we are aiming for, so it is permissible for doing to come first and then return for contemplation.
Force of Attraction
The force of attraction is the force that brings together, combines, synthesizes, etc. The force that turns "things" into thing. From many to one, not unity. Therefore, the force of attraction attracts things that are alike and its nature is to become one.
The force of attraction is also responsible as the force of creation and actualization. The act of creating something for us is the act of putting multiplicities together through construction and composition.
As things becoming closer to oneness, it becomes for real to us and it is the way we see actuality as things. Where many properties and characteristics come together and bind into thinghood. A chair is one thing, the table is one thing, etc. If we were to break things down into its smaller components, those things begin to lose its actuality.
But because it is an inclusive force, in the process, it is already excluding. In the act of attracting it is already repulsive to other things. Hence, the force of attraction is merely one side of the entire picture.
Force of Repulsion
The force of repulsion is the force that breaks things apart, divides, anti-thesis, etc. The force that turns thing into "things". From singulars to multiplicities. This force expels what are unlike and its nature is to become many.
The force of repulsion is also the force of destruction and negation. The act of destruction is to break things into its constituents until with negation the thing becomes nothingness.
Like the force of attraction, as an inclusive yet exlusive at the time, the force of repulsion is inclusive while being exclusive. As it excludes things from itself, the thing keeps everything alike for itself.
Imbalance and Balance
When one force is overpowering, it brings about the weakening of its opposite and the consequence is imbalance. (Excessiveness)
With both aspects coincide, we have a collective singularity consists of independent multiplicities with neither side cancelling out each other. (Unity)
