Another Sleepless Night
The clock ticks on minute by minute, hour by hour.
The only sound other than the even breathing from the man lying next to me.
The night’s silence, almost haunting. I hear a whirling outside my bedroom window and imagine it is a UFO.
And I wonder when will I be taken up.
Solemn thoughts fill my mind.
Death creeps it’s way in, as usual, and I think of all those I love.
A warmth washes over me like an island breeze.
I listen to the soothing sound of the blue waves rushing to the shore.
The light of the sun lays like silk on my skin.
I take in a deep breath, I feel my body relax and I settle in.
Another sleepless night.
