Has anyone else ever wanted to run away? I did, several times and not just as a kid! Once, I sort of did it. My kid and I just picked up and drove all the way to Florida. No plans, just drive. We ended up on a pokemon hunt and it was fun-a good memory. I think everyone at least once in their life should run away. Even if they know that they will return. Ahh, the freedom! Here is a revisiting of a formerly posted poem aptly titled runaway. Hope you liked it then and even more so now.
I’ve always wanted to run away, just get in the car and go.
Forget my obligations, pack up the kid, and run with the flow.
Throw the suitcase in the rear, a drawing pad and a snack.
Not knowing where I’m going or even if I’m coming back.
But let’s be real, it’ll never happen. Somewhere along the way
I grew up, became responsible. I must resign myself to stay.
Raise the kid, pay the bills, live a life in captivity.
Face the drudgery of a lonely life until I reach maturity.
But who knows, one day in the distant future, once I’ve met my obligations, yay!
You will wake up and find me missing-
I’ve always wanted to run away!
