She raced to get to the bookstore before it closed. She had half hour but she didn’t want to spare a minute. The conversation, all the feelings thus far, it was all building up. She felt it in the pit of her stomach. “What am I doing?” The little voice asked but she paid no mind. Let me do this, please. Just let me be.
She found the row of “B” authors in the fiction and literature section and her heart fluttered. Her eyes flew across the titles on the shelf, looking for the one book he mentioned to her. “Let me find you…” she whispered under her breath and as if those were the magic words, her eyes laid on the one she was looking for.
The font of the words on the paperback certainly dated the book to the 1980s. Her favorite decade and was there ever a time she didn’t enjoy the older things in life? All the wisdom and all the answers have already been revealed long ago. The reason to move forward in time was not in search for answers she already had.
The synopsis was only two lines: “I gave my life to become the person I am right now. Was it worth it?” A slight chill ran down her spine and she couldn’t help but imagine that the next big thing in her life was coming from inside the hinge of the book in her hands.
