The Betrayal (Photoshop) 2013 (c) Chandra Free.
This piece came out of asking for themes to fulfill. Which it was suggested for me to do was desperation/betrayal/last resort. That's where this came from. I did a large write up on this over at DA- but what sits with me now is how this image was not received well on a whole. I mean, it does okay, but it's one of those weird challenging pieces. One of my goals when i was making this was to push my line art, my favorite tropes that I do, convey movement and hurt. Perhaps a bit too meditated, but I feel i striped away my glitzy coloring, and just poured over details to tell a story that has yet to be told. I'm not hurt it isn't a successful image, it is a challenging composition that's unusual, GG's ass is grotesque in the most beautiful ways, everybody is sad and in a dire place... i mean, what's to like about a piece like this? It's difficult, and maybe that's why I gravitate to it. It challenges my audience, it challenges me. It's weird, and that's kinda a great thing about art.
Personally i love how much despair is in this image.
