Penguins at Sunset
I love this image from Half Moon Island, Antarctica; just off the coast of the Antarctic peninsula. It was my first day in Antarctica, and the weather was spectacular, starting off clear, nearly windless, and a balmy few degrees above freezing, I really couldn't have asked for much better. As the day grew later, clouds began to form in the direction of the coming sunset, creating Turneresque light, and I really feel I managed to capture a bit of that feel here--in addition to the wonderful connection the chinstrap penguins seem to be creating with each other.
I do a run of winter holiday cards each year based around one of my images, and this year, this is the one. Details on how you can get some at my web page.
