Now that I've read Howl's Moving Castle, the Howl!Rickon/Sophie!Shireen AU I want just intensified to alarming proportions.
Consider: Rickon, the wildest of the Stark children, with immense power aimlessly using it for purposes that have absolutely no hierarchy of value. He does what he wants and wills what he can't and escapes from his problems when things get too difficult to handle yet, all the while, never lacking for a good heart. He keeps his family at a distance and they give him grief for routinely disappearing from his life but they're his weakest flank, a sure way to get him off his ass is to threaten their safety.
Then, Shireen, fatalistic to the extent of a damaging inferiority complex. Honest to a fault. Cursed somehow that her appearance reflects how she feels: an old, rickety lady, whose power is to give life to inanimate objects. All the while she's unaware of her talent because she's caged herself to believing just this much of herself, good intentions just short of greatness because she's holding herself back.
Two lost souls, eventually mutually empowering, with the added bonus of old married couple banter, getting in each other's way and testing their boundaries by threatening one another's strictly observed comfort zones.
MY HEART YEARNS FOR THIS AU. YEARNS, I TELL YOU. YEARNS.
