Astronomer David Levy famously quipped that comets are like cats, “they have tails, and they do precisely what they want.” He was referring to the notorious difficulty of predicting what a comet will do as it nears the sun. If Lovejoy keeps brightening at the same rate, it should put on its best show in the weeks after the close approach to Earth.
