If there is a character I "get" from the entire run of Sandman, it's Destruction. He sees the need for change, even delights in the change... but still hates the ruin of what came before.
And I keep getting offered - and accepting - positions where that happens to me.
I warn people. "You know what I'm like," I tell them. "You know this. Are you sure you want me to be involved?"
And they look at the energy, the intensity, even the disruption, and say "Of course we do," ignoring that disruption and destruction are not precise instruments.
And then they're surprised, and hurt.
And I can't feel sorry for them at all.
