So, the next morning, the kid's parents called the agency and said they want a female teacher for the little guy. Sigh.
I'm taking another Poli Sci course this semester, well, two, actually. It's one of my majors, so that's going to happen a lot. The professor who taught my International Relations course last semester is teaching Foreign Governments this time around, and is now the Program Director for Poli Sci majors. This guy likes my work. So, when the U.S. Embassy announced an internship program for summer semester, he read the announcement out loud in class, looked directly at me, and said, "So, are you interested in this? It looks like a good opportunity." Which meant everybody in class looked at me.
Which, you know what? Fuck it. If other people want to contribute to class, I am TOTALLY okay with that, but I'm paying a lot of money for this and I'm not gonna just sit there and write stuff down. I PARTICIPATE, folks. I ask questions, I bug the instructors until they give me a defensible answer.
