is honey vegan? it's not like you have to squeeze it out of a bee but it is kinda like their stuff. I once bought the most expensive honey i could find just out of curiosity, to see what it would be like and now it's all I can think of. But anyhow I had porridge for breakfast. Without honey. Also today's milk is hazelnut.
So besides breakfast today's other significant event is that my bicycle exploded. On the way to work the gear mechanism at the back (dropper?) snapped off. Fortunately it happened near where i could catch a bus. Locked the bike in town then later that afternoon a colleague kindly drove me in and we took bike to the repair shop. So bus again tomorrow. I don't like to go a day without riding the bike, i feel myself getting fatter already.
But I like the bus. It's the sense of community perhaps. A shared adventure. And who knows who you'll meet. A pretty young lady sat in the seat in front of mine and i like to imagine there was some significance in this because there were so many empty seats further away from me. But then it was a good seat. It afforded the best view next to mine... until someone sat in front of me.
There was an anime character on the screen of her mp3 player when she took it out so i knew she was cool. Also i liked the colour of her jacket which was only just not turquoise enough to still be called green. She must work in the offices above ours because she got off at the same stop.
The office upstairs is a call centre for an international hotel chain so everyone up there speaks a different language, each one of them seems to be from some other country. It must be an interesting place to work; so many people with different life experiences from different places from all over the world.
Despite the bike trouble I still had time for my before work swim, there's a gym near to work. Every morning after the 10 miles on the bike I need a good long stretch and soak. Said good morning to Jacqui at the counter on the way in as usual and she said 'Good morning Mark'. But i only ever say 'good morning' or 'cheers' or 'bye'. I wonder what the reaction would be if i used her name. It's been a few years now so i at least owe her this. Invented a new swimming stroke; the back to front crawl.
I don't like Holland & Barrett (a health food chain across the UK and Ireland) but I get suckered by their promotional campaigns and they're everywhere so hard to avoid. After taking the bike in to be repaired at lunch time i went to said shop. They currently have a buy one of anything and get some other thing half price thing going on. It's a regular thing they do handily enough around the same time i run out of two expensive things.
So I bought my two tubs of hemp protein. One i keep in the office to use in the morning after riding the bike and inventing swimming stokes, the other at home after riding back again. And i usually mix this with quinoa milk. The thinking is that both hemp and quinoa are complete proteins containing all 14 amino acids. So if i use both together i can be doubly sure that i have the whole protein thing covered. Pushin 50 so need all the help i can get.
Some other stuff happened too, work etc. Got home. Wrote this. Nodded hello to a new neighbour.
No significant musical events today. I heard nothing on soundcloud that moved me to click like. Reblogged some arts on tumblr. The best songs so far this year are still: Ariel Pink 'Put Your Number In My Phone', Mac Demarco 'Brother', Ought 'Habit', Perfume Genius 'Queen', Blonde Redhead 'Lady M', A Sunny Day In Glasgow 'Crushin', Yumi Zouma 'The Brae', FKA Twigs 'Two Weeks', Deptford Goth 'Two Hearts', Wild Beasts 'A Simple Beautiful Truth', Iamamiwhoami 'Tap Your Glass', Zola Jesus 'Dangerous Days', Sophie 'Lemonade', Aphex Twin 'Minipops...',
