I have always loved good fantasy literature - from The Lord of the Rings, to anything at all by Sir Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman, and Harry Potter as well. This love has lead to an inextricable belief that everything is a passageway to something else - something brighter, more saturated... more magical. And this belief has, in turn shaped my personality and the work I do.
This series of works was developed after seeing a beautiful but utterly dilapidated cottage by the train tracks of a station I cross everyday. It is surrounded by larger, more polished buildings, yet this little house remains - an utter misfit in its context. It lead me to think of it as a remnant of a past time - perhaps a doorway to another place.
I love working digitally, but moving back to traditional forms of painting like watercolours and gouache is fun, and I try to sneak these media into any project I do
