The Release of Doom Video Game
After several years of speculation and delays, a fourth expansion of the Doom series - simply titled Doom is officially set to be released on May 13, 2016. The first-person, shooter game, developed by id Software and published by Bethesda Softworks, will be available to play on PS4, Xbox One and PC consoles.
About the Doom 2016
. How much will it defer from the previous Doom releases?
The series has been around for over 20 years, and during that time there has only been 3 major releases, the last one being over 10 years old. It also means that a big number of gamers have probably never played a Doom game. Id Software didn’t miss this fact either; they have publicly stated that their aim is to attract a new generation of gamers to the franchise. With this said, it’s logical that along the new-generation players, comes up-to-date visuals and features that need to be iconic to catch attention.
The story here, just like in the previous sequels, is focused on a space marine operating under the aegis of UAC (Union Aerospace Corporation), who fights waves of demons and the undead in order to survive. However, the game’s title is intentionally set to be simple and effective, because the Doom 2016 is supposed to become a full reboot of the series, rather than an expansion or continuation of earlier projects.
Id Software has said that their aim is to make the reboot run in 1080p and at 60 fps, which will only make it even more spectacular.
Trailer
A glimpse of the story is shown through the gameplay trailer, released by Bethesda on May 18, 2015. Once again, the series seems to be pushing the boundaries of taste. The demonic trailer is showing off the bloody campaign mode, fast-movement play, grotesque demons and weapons. The BFG-9000 will be returning as well, even though it isn’t shown in the trailer.
Main Features
· Graphics
The original Doom was praised for its realistic graphics and visuals, and every sequel in the franchise since managed to maintain that reputation.
Based on the game’s footage so far, it’s clear that the visuals and textures are impressive and highly detailed. They realistically present every demon and every drop of blood spilled during the shooting, which shows that the reboot is at the same time beautiful and grotesque.
The franchise is often considered being one of the origins of realistic violence, though a number of studies have found no link between violent games and people being violent in real life.
· Music
It’s enough to watch the trailer in order to hear the amazing adrenaline-rush music. Even though not much of the sounds have been heard to this point, there is close to none chance that you’ll get anything less than the hard-edged tone given in the previous releases.
In general, the whole series consists of memorable sounds and metal-like soundtracks.
Every moaning and roar of a demon is heard perfectly clear. Even the opening of a door can give chills.
By the way, I'm working now on the subsection of the website devoted to slots for real money: http://www.slotozilla.com/free-slots/real-money . So there are slots with the music similar to new Doom..)
· Gameplay
Everything is designed to keep a gamer moving fast, and give him a roller-coaster experience. However, you’ll be pleased to know that the action never feels out of control as it appears to be while watching the trailer. Controls’ simplicity will make things much more manageable, especially when you try them by yourself.
The reboot consists of both single-player and multiplayer modes.
Single-player:
According to id Software executive producer Marty Stratton, the single-player consists of "badass demons, big effing guns, and moving really fast" as key principles.
Two systems known as “push forward combat” and “melee execution” are featured.
The “push forward combat” means that a player is unable to take cover behind objects or rest to regain his health. The only way for a player to regain health is to collect revitalizing items or to kill enemies.
The “melee execution” system allows players to perform a melee-take-down on enemies that are highlighted.
Players will be able to choose and freely switch different weapons between them. Confirmed weapons include Vortex Rifle, Super Shotgun, Pistol, Rocket Launcher and many more. New weapons and equipment offer new ways to kill, such as chainsaw that can be used for taking down the enemies up close.
Multiplayer:
The built-in tool also known as “SnapMap” allows players to create multiplayer content such as custom maps, objects, new modes, and share them with other. Nevertheless, players will have to pay for a new multiplayer content.
The downside is that the traditional modes won’t be supported, but hopefully, SnapMap will be a worthy replacement that allows gamers to express their creativity, and will show a large library of users created content.
Confirmed multiplayer modes are:
- Team Deathmatch;
- Clan Arena;
- Freeze Tag;
- Domination;
- Warpath;
- Soul Harvest.
The exact details of these modes are still unknown.
Known multiplayer maps:
- Excavation: a modest-sized UAC mining outpost;
- Infernal: a mid-sized Hell map;
- Chasm: a massive map placed below Mars’ polar ice caps;
- Disposal: a smaller map that is the main waste processing facility of the UAC;
- Helix: this is where all experiments on demons are being done;
- Perdition: this arena is populated by unfortunate, moaning souls;
- Sacrilegious: a map set within a fracture of Hell;
- Heatwave: an industrial UAC facility;
- Beneath: the energies of Hell are harnessed in this location.
· Story
The story takes place on Mars, which is considered by space marines to be an easy, uninteresting assignment, until the UAC experiments go terribly wrong.
As a space marine, you wake up to learn that the UAC facility has been overrun by the unleashed demonic forces of Hell. Your task is to defeat hordes of demons and possessed humans, while the humanity’s survival rests in your hands.
The interesting fact is that the space marine is not named; this is because being the first-person shooter is supposed to feel more involved while playing.
You’ll be fighting against more than 15 types of demons such as Imps, Prowlers, Harvesters and Hell Knights, who look like their 2D spirits are brought to life.
The reboot is speculated to be the best shooter game of 2016. It’s most likely that not only will existing fans of the series love it, but it will attract gamers who never heard of the series before.
