A blatant ripoff of Pro-Tech's otf Dark Angel knives, I snagged this no-name Chinese side opener on a whim. It was only $25 and had good reviews for a budget automatic, so why not? It ended up being my edc for around 6 months, until it accidentally deployed in my pocket and slashed a two and a half inch gash down my leg.
-The blade edge is ridiculously uneven and makes it look cheap.
-It's surprisingly sharp, there's only minimal play, and the spring seems sturdy.
-They used a reverse pocket clip, so when you pull the knife out your thumb is right there at the deployment button, which I like.
For being Chinese 440 mystery steel, I was impressed at how the edge retained it's sharpness. What wasn't impressive was how quickly the powder coating began to chip off the handle, making the knife look even more shitty and cheap. Those are both of minimal importance compared to the accidental deployment issue, which renders the knife completely unsafe to be carried around in your pocket. The spring also wasn't as sturdy as I first thought, breaking about a month after I retried the Dark Angel as my ecd. Even if you're desperate for a automatic knife and on a tight budget, you'd be better off going with something from Ganzo, which is what I will be replacing this with.
