As required by law, allow me to preface this review by saying: "Fuck Karbach for selling out to Anheuser-Busch." With that out of the way, I was a little surprised by how subdued this beer is, esp for an imperial stout that clocks in at 11.5% abv. It's a melange of muted smoke, chocolate, whiskey, coffee and oak, with no flavor dominating. Although well balanced, without having a pronounced flavor it feels a little generic. Don't get me wrong; it's a good beer, just not a great one. That, coupled with the $14 price tag, means I won't be buying this again. It's a shame this isn't priced out at like $7 a bottle, I'd be guzzling it.
