As a craft beer nerd, I am required by law to preface this review by saying: "Fuck Karbach for selling out to Anheuser-Busch." Artisanal tears aside, I still occasionally pick up Karbach seasonals and limited releases. The first thing to hit your palate are robust mocha notes with some vanilla undertones, which give way to peat, roasted malts, and a little bit of alcohol, fading into a slightly bitter finish of liquorice & chocolate. All and all, it's a pretty nice stout. The bitter finish can occasionally be off-putting, but not enough so that it's really an issue. Recommended.
