As Daybreak is a "breakfast beer," I figured I should have it at the appropriate time; so after crawling out of bed at 11:30 am, I cracked open a cold one. Being brewed with milk and honey I guess I was expecting something along the lines of a sweet milk stout? In actuality this is a blond ale. Lots of grain & cereal malts upfront, which finishes on mild, sweet citrus notes. Couldn't really taste any of that milk and honey. My main complaint is the mouthfeel, it's both over-carbonated and oily. Like, how do you do that? It's bizarre, you would think the carbonation would break up that sebaceous coating of the palate, but no. The carbonation hits upfront and then afterward comes the sticky, pinguid glaze. Daybreak fails at being a breakfast beer and a beer in general.
