I grew up in a house that, (for years), had no running water. No television. A wood stove for heat. And a washboard for our second hand clothes. I often used art, (amongst many other things), as a way to escape what I felt was a painful, and humiliating existence. I managed to achieve a small amount of material success until it all came to a head in early 2016. My drug and alcohol problem progressed as my family deteriorated. I came to California after losing my daughter later that same year. I live alone now. It's been almost two years since the last time I've touched a drink or a drug. I work as a graphic designer in San Marcos, and volunteer in recovery.
