I didn't see the sunset. Picked the kids up early and went to get pedicures. My son's first, hopefully not last. He loved the warm foot-bath, the leg and foot massage, and the comfy chair. He said he didn't want polish at first, which would have been fine. But I'm glad he decided to do it.
I don't want him to think that because he's a boy, he can't enjoy fun things like blue toenails. I'm a little concerned that his dad will react as though it's something men/boys shouldn't do. I've noticed that before. My son liked something because it was pretty. Had sparkles or was purple or something; then my ex said something denigrating about it. And my son lost his enjoyment in the thing.
It's so heartbreaking. The subtle ways we're told what we can and can't like or do. I'm glad we live in an area where doing your own thing is frequently celebrated. I hope he continues to love his shiny blue toes.
