Phoebe watched the sunset with me. Or what we could see of it. She always likes to stand at the rail with me and survey the countryside. She does that wherever I board her. She just likes to stand next to me. Sometimes she nudges me with her mouth until I pet her. Actually, at this exact moment, we were watching Mr. Jones, who was in the lower arena about 60 feet below us. He started freaking out over something and was running around staring into the woods. Phoebe, as usual, just watched calmly as she wondered what his problem was. She's an old show-horse. She's seen it all. You can see how smart she is. I love the expression on her face here.
Today was much more productive than the earlier part of the week. I received more phone calls and emails about projects and loans. I also submitted an application for two jobs. Hedging all of my bets. But I really am in a much, much better position job-wise than I was at this time last year. At the very least, I've gotten back into the working world, and found my confidence again. I'm cautiously optimistic. Actually, just optimistic.
