THE LOTUS FLOWER
The lotus flower in Buddhism is a symbol of fortune. It’s strength to flourish in muddy water is what gives this flower its reputation and most literal meaning: rising and blooming above the murk to achieve enlightenment. It is also a symbol for purity and faithfulness. It’s importance is reflected through a spectrum of colours. A white lotus flower is a reference to purity of the mind and spirit. If a lotus is red, it refers to compassion and love. The blue flower refers to common sense, wisdom and rationality. The pink represents the wisdom of Buddha. A purple lotus symbolises spirituality and mysticism. And finally, a lotus with gold petals represent the deep state of enlightenment.
