A tagtool sketch of the super-complex planetary nebula NGC6543 - the Cats Eye Nebula, and a look into the possible future of our own sun. There's at least 11 shells of gas that have been expelled at regular intervals by the enlarged dying sun (in red giant form) at the centre, and lit up by it's UV radiation. The original Hubble telescope combined image was taken at 3 wavelengths (Hydrogen alpha, neutral Oxygen and ionized Nitrogen) and showed lots of the complexity, knots, bubbles and jets of gas as well as the outer shells. The space explorer here is either super-impressed by the stunning nebula up close, or by the fact that he travelled 3,300 light years in the blink of an eye. #illustration #ipadart
