Magnetic Murder Mystery
"Research by scientists at the University of Kiel a decade ago looked at sperm whale stranding events in the North Sea dating back to 1712 and found that out the 97 incidents 90 per cent of them occurred when the Sun cycle was shorter than average.
The Sun’s magnetic activity runs over an 11year period, which sees changes in levels of solar radiation, solar flares and sunspots.
Its current cycle peaked two years ago and is now heading towards a lower period of activity.
Solar radiation has a big effect on the Earth’s magnetic field which, in turn, plays an essential role in helping animals navigate." -Express, UK
