PeltaWorld is a game that’s been in the works for going on 3 years, thru hurricane, pandemic, digging out, packing, moving, setting up studios, and doing it all over again. While that was going on, it was slowly getting settled on how the game would let you play out the human farce that is climate change tragedy.
But, the PeltaPeeps, (actors for human players in-game), knew as they helped make the game steadily better- 2 problems remained. The 1st one was being stuck at 4 player only. The 2nd was related to the 1st, but seemed to be about better modeling the reality of human failure via extreme success.
Problem 1 is an old one because games that work well for 4 players usually don’t for 2. And 3 player games are plagued by odd-man-out syndrome until the 3rd player is removed. Then the game’s end is reduced to a contest for 2 anyway.
PeltaPeeps are good at recognizing the obvious when everyone else doesn’t. So they found the solution for both and it is asymmetry. (old board below)
They started by making the board out of 7, instead of 8, territory hexes. Now there are 3 pairs of game board territories, designed for each of 3 players. The 4th has only 1 territory hex. That’s when all Hell broke loose-
(new board above). The player with only 1 territory will be at the center of the board which is a perfect place to mess with everyone else. PeltaPeeps, being who they are- started choosing sides and some smartass yelled, “the TeknoPeeps VS EkoPeeps! “ and a look of happy evil spread all across the dungeon. (old board play- below)
