I wanted to simulate that vintage fiberglass material used for lampshades in the fifties. I painted some vellum blue and then sewed a fiberous sort of art paper to the vellum and put eyelets along the edges to lash it together. The hardest part was making the wire frame. I even took a welding class in order to be able to spot weld wire together to make lampshade frames. I learned that welding is difficult and that I should trade my sewing skills with a welder for him/her to weld my frames.
