Today in game design. I crossed the threshold, finally. The pace of work at the studio, and the stress over issues as we transition to being a multiplatform game has finally pushed me to stop caring about keeping the peace with other departments.
Now, when I do not like a decision that is being made, I go right to our creative director and say, "I do not think this is a good idea, and here is why," and instead of being told to hush up and make my sound effects, he comes to my office and we talk it out.
In the past, I have simply bitched to my fellow sound designers about what I believe to be poor decisions, but, now that I have internalized the illusion of hierarchy in the game studio, I am feelin' a little more listened to.
Still gonna have to try out god damn sounds on going into/out of stealth modes though... but, at least I said I thought it was a bad idea.
