Transport for London invited us to create a poster (alongside 10 other artists and studios) celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Johnston Typeface.
Our poster draws inspiration from the book Writing & illuminating, & lettering written by Edward Johnston in 1906. The extract describes how quality is always recognised, despite any ‘practical’ reasons heard in favour of quantity, whilst a timeline made up of 100 dots (including the two gold ones) guides you through the text.
The full series will be exhibited at a show called The Language of London at the KK Outlet during the last two weeks of May. Posters will be available to buy at TfL’s Johnston Pop Up Shop during Clerkenwell Design Week, which runs 24—26th May.
