12 ARTISTS. 6 COUNTRIES. 1 DESIGN EXPERIMENT.
A few months back, we started a simple design experiment rooted in the idea that collaborative creativity can spawn innovation and limitless possibilities. We asked our creative crew of friends, artists, designers, dancers, photographers, makers and doers from around the world to take part in something different:
A design project with no brief. No hovering Art Directors. No subjective design suggestions. Just simply creativity for the sake of creativity. We called the project –WeAre.
We brought together 12 artists from around the world and 3 ballet dancers from the Spanish National Dance Company. Each artist came with a unique creative skillset which included illustrators, 3D designers, animators, photographers, graphic designers, and typographers. The single unifying factor of the project was the art canvas – premium hand-made silk scarves. We were drawn to product, for its ability to be both worn as a statement piece, or framed as a piece of art.
Here’s a look at the how the project came to life: www.madebyweare.com
The WeAre project is the true definition of creative experimentation, and therefore completely formless. Our first project used scarves as a canvas; however, the sky is the limit for our next project. Furniture? Or books? Or whatever comes to mind. The only constant that will remain the same is creativity and collaboration.
