We’re going to keep this week’s #productupdate short! @jayzes wrote a great post yesterday outlining our current open source efforts. If you are interested in the technical side of things you should definitely check it out.
This week we focused on testing. We are getting very close to deploying new web frontend. Internally the project is called "WebApp" because it decouples the UI from the backend. Moving forward the front end will simply consume the API, just like our iOS app and future Android app. This comes with some major performance benefits. For one we will be removing 50,000 lines of code. Buried in all that code are a lot of our current bugs, so they will be wiped out.
We’ve been using WebApp internally for some time now and will start letting a small group of users play with it soon. If you’d like to be part of that group, email firstname.lastname@example.org and include your username in the subject line.
IFTTT testing has begun internally. Once we are happy with it, we will reach out to the beta volunteers. This project is also open source if anyone would like to contribute.
On a final note, we have a new survey and we’d love your feedback.
