The Topless New York series celebrates the fact that, since 1992, under New York State law, anyone may be bare-chested in public, regardless of gender. This was the result of women challenging their arrest in 1986 as violating New York's constitution, and the state's highest court striking down the antiquated "indecent exposure" law that treated women differently from men. Now, two brave women have similarly challenged the outdated laws in Fort Collins, Colorado, and the case is moving through the courts. Samantha Six is one of the plaintiffs - and in 2016, when she and her fiancé Damien were visiting New York City, I captured them celebrating their presence in a place that had already recognized they should have ALL the same rights.
