TV show Picnic at Hanging Rock is a mysterious drama which is broadcast on Showcase and Amazon Prime Video tv channels. This mini-series is based on the eponymous novel Australian writer Joan Lindsay, released in 1967 and previously screened successfully by Peter Weir. The plot of the book in its turn was inspired by the real events that took place in the vicinity of Melbourne in 1900. One of the main roles was played by English actress Natalie Dormer, known for such multi-series projects as “The Tudors”, “Game of Thrones” and “The Hunger Games”.
Picnic at Hanging Rock season 1 is the story of the tragedy that occurred at the foot of Hanging Rock.
A group of pupils from a private school together with their teacher went on a picnic in a quiet and picturesque place on the last Valentine’s Day of the XIX century. It was beautiful sunny weather, and nothing foreshadowed that their little journey would end in tragedy.
It was not destined to go back for three girls and a teacher. They disappeared without a trace, and no one else saw them. Where the schoolgirls disappeared, and what happened to them during the excursion to a local landmark located not far from Melbourne, remained a mystery.
And we’ll see a TV version of these events in season 1 of Picnic at Hanging Rock TV mini-series.
