I wish Syriza and the new government of Greece well in their attempts to bring "hope" to the long suffering Greek citizens. It always fills my heart and reawakens the teenage idealist in me to see an left wing party filled with youth win an election with such verve.
The slightly older me however worries if they can hold their "Coalition of the Radical Left" together for long enough to really bring change.
Of course forces of the old guard will work hard to bring this government down, let's not forget the lessons of the military junta (1967-74), but I'm more worried about this bring new party destroying itself from within when they attempt to realise their ideals.
Governing takes compromise, in my humble experience the Radical Left can be a little too dogmatic about principles and ideals to cope with this and internal splits ensue.
Lets hope this time it's different.
