Kamchatka Peninsula, Russia
Our base-camp by the feet of Vilyuchinskyi volcano. The group has come to Kamchatka for a nice week of ski-touring in the mountains, where we should be brought by two snowmobiles. Since you can never plan your trip to Kamchatka according to the forecast, the forecast is (somehow it looks like that) ruining all your plans at any time you come. Want some fresh cold powder? You're welcome. Best snow in your life? No probs. Ah, you want a beautiful sunny day to ride it? Maaan, you're asking too much. Anyway, I can give you the sun (I have another picture about that - sun in Kamchatka), but never ever ask me again to take away that funny awful wind on the sunny days here. So, we spent 5 days digging out our tents almost every two hours, and two more days we spent fighting the wind. At least, after long and hopeless whiteout, we could see the volcano, which personally I took as a gift of this journey.
