Up at 8:30. Read ch. Trollope, "Worked" my to-do list until about 11:30 - some email responses, cleaned tub/bathroom, took recycling to Rite-Aid, figured out key for "Cruel," wrote to backup singer, also to Monica Howe re "Any Road Home," delivered maintenance check. Did not get to general email clean-up. Coffee at e77, got on train in time to make Preminger's The Cardinal at MoMa at 1, as planned, but decided against it and got off for Oracle instead. (Main reason I want to see the film, which is over two hours, is that the theme song is Moross/Leigh's "Stay With Me," which Dylan covered, from Sinatra's record, on Shadows In the Night. I've never heard the movie version, not even sure who sings it.) Worked on "drive" from 1-6: getting frustrated. Grabbed a bite and did go to MoMa for Afraid to Talk (1932, Edward L. Cahn); gangster/city corruption film, again w/ Edward Arnold and Louis Calhern. Came back, worked another 90 min. Started Ray Ragosta, A Motive For Disappearance (Burning Deck, 2013), apparently his first book in 10+ years. Listened to the rest of that Five Blind Boys disc - 25 singles no one at the time though anyone would listen to as a collection do get samey, but "In the Garden" is damn creepy. Bed at 1.
