Up early, bought plane tickets for annual Xmas/parents trip, Dec. 15-Jan. 16 (a week before I start teaching). Went to coffee but didn't do anything focused -- ended up having a long chat w/ neighbors/acquaintances (a couple - he's a playwright who's well-versed in pre-rock, she's a writer who just finished a libretto for Corey Dargel; I think they've both been involved with New Dramatists). Discussed (but did not watch) the Gidget episode centered on a Dylanoid folkie w/ Bree before she went to tech rehearsal at La MaMa. Dozed through part of a bland June Allyson/Dick Powell/Ricardo Montalban movie before getting to the desk. Blocked on the new section (I know what needs to be said, the prose is just coming out heavy, dull, and defensive), so copyedited the preface and introduction, per many helpful suggestions from @evankindley. Worked on that fairly steadily 3:30-8, eked out 1 or 2 new grafs after a walk. Glanced at some Schuyler for the b-day item I promised to deliver tomorrow.
