I took a bit of a hiatus starting last year. I wasn't happy with my work and I got lost in the sea of engagement and hoping for likes. I found myself posting old things that I wasn't even sure I was proud of anymore, just to keep up and stay relevant.
Then I tried something new. I collaborated with the Campbell Agency on this shoot with Madison, trying to see if maybe I could regain a little bit of myself through a shoot that is more curated and prepared. I was really so proud of the results after editing and I warily decided to take my results to Social Media, despite the ridiculous algorithms and tempting new ways to share content.
This time, I wasn't greeted by what I was looking for. What did happen though, was I stopped caring. I didn't care (more or less) about taking the post down and starting over or curating the feed to be what others wanted. I was satisfied with my end, it was social media that wasn't playing its part this time. So I took my work and found new creative platforms and was able to finally approach 2018 with something that I could say I was proud of and put effort into.
It isn't about likes, engagement, who reposts you, it's about loving the work that YOU are sharing with the world. Be proud of your content, post for you.
