This is a picture of a print of a slide so not the best quality but one of the few images I have of me at age eighteen years old hanging out in Rara, Nepal at 10,500 feet before sunblock. Young people: Use sunblock!
I love live story telling. I've been to several events around Portland, Oregon and am a fan of story-telling podcasts so was thrilled to be asked to share a personal story onstage based on the theme Nevertheless, We Persist. Mine is about a vague, soul-searching, vision-quest journey I took in 1974, fresh out of high school, with the $600 I'd saved working at the mall. I was clueless and fearless but -- spoiler alert -- survived.
In hopes some ello-ers in Portland, Oregon might be interested in coming out to hear tales from five women next weekend. Details below.
