While I dont know the key to success (yet), I know what NOT to do!
And what I do know is this,
No success ever came from "being comfortable", people take risks; before I started my new life in NM, I had decades of being "comfortable" in NY (take a wild guess how successful my music then was, answer: it wasnt!) (just making music with no promotion is a recipe for failure!) , Success comes from being proactive, When I lived in LA I didnt have enough money to film a real music video for "Shr00mz", so I used my cell phone, make things work with what you have! Then you build up your brand and get $$$ you can hire a real director like I did for "Space Energy", if your music isnt popping now, ask yourself, are you REALLY doing everything possible to promote your brand? Are you advertising on music blogs? On Pandora? On Radio? Handing out flyers? Social media is good as part of a grand plan to establish your brands, but its not the only thing you could be doing, would you move to make your dream happen? If you keep doing the same shit, youll have to be happy with the SAME OUTCOME.
I certainly didnt get my music on over 200+ blogs by "wishing", I sent out THOUSANDS of emails, 10 a day for years, I didnt get on WRIU FM the 1# non commercial radio station in Rhode Island (reaches four states) by "hoping", I used SubmitHub.com. I didnt get on Pandora by hating others on it, I submitted my stuff and it ALL got accepted, notice a pattern here? I WAS PROACTIVE, a BIG THANK YOU goes out to Gabriel Barrio hes been invaluable to ANY success Ive had, same with Frankie Padrino at WRIU FM who broke my record before anyone else.
Heres a screenshot of my Spotify stats, I had the most streams ive ever had yesterday, hard work pays off! Also I got on a Spotify playlist,
This wasnt done in a vacuum, this, and any "fortune" ive had with my brand "Hefe Heetroc", is a result of SACRIFICE, would you eat only ramen for a year to pay for your dream? Coz I did lol (it indeed sucked), getting a buzz on your name takes hard work and sacrifice!
