@Shominoise said that she wished we could all go back to livejournal. I can kind of agree with that and I might start using this in that fashion. So I'll start with nouveau-LJ entry number one.
Living in Baltimore has been a strange transition. We did get pretty used to how things were in Raleigh, and even if we missed living in a larger city for the most part, we also got used to things like always being able to park right outside your house, or stores being totally clean and spacious.
Last night though I went to a bodega-type place in the neighborhood I had seen but not gone into and it made me feel very positively about being in a city again. Everything was jammed in, and it was junk food and Korean noodles and overpriced organic milk and European cookies and it was fun just being in a weird, one-of-a-kind store. (And all bodegas are one-of-a-kind, variations on an interesting theme. I can't believe that over three years later, I still miss the one from our neighborhood in Chicago. For a while there, they even sold Kinder eggs, until I guess customs caught up with them.)
It's nice to be breathing some fall air. It's nice to send out a job application for a job you're interested in. It's nice being close to people.
Tomorrow my little brother will be old enough to rent a car anywhere he likes. This is after he's spent the last year flying passenger jets, landing them in La Guardia, you know. Life's funny.
