My name is Carissa Macpherson, and I am the self-taught fibre artist behind Whipstitch Wing Creations. I work to create unique and treasured pieces for a variety of purposes, and I use techniques such as crochet and macrame to achieve my results. Much of my work consists of custom orders for my clients, and has included political statements, image replications and important event gifts. I use my own and others' patterns to shape my detailed pieces, and work closely with my clients to achieve their desired vision. I favour interesting challenges such as those included here: a brain beanie that replicates the parts of the human brain; an eyeglasses holder in the likeness of Animal from The Muppets; a pair of wedding otters for a bride- and groom-to-be to display on their wedding day; a three-headed giraffe that represents a family after the birth of a baby; and a Halloween gift of Madam Mim from The Sword in the Stone wizard battle. Such pieces push my skills and creativity, helping me to grow as an artist. My work can be viewed on platforms such as Instagram (www.instagram.com/whipstitchwingcreations) and Facebook (www.facebook.com/whipstitchwingcreations).
