The Mouth of Sadness
a collage poem
Sly looks of hidden longing
of love like many waters
of light under creamy milk glass
somewhere in the background
there's the mark you imprinted—
blood was slow to clot,
petals and incense in our pathetic wake.
I wonder if it's a disorder, this
waiting for an atmospheric shift.
Time to change the channel
and to wash it down, a tall, cool drink,
the hues of water and sky
how our paper moon dreams
mend and knit a brand new
land where trees are dressed up for autumn
despite the attendant grief,
matching heartbeats in
steeply tilting rooms of memory.
a collage poem made up of lines from poetry I wrote during the month of June. Just for kicks.
