These photos are from Afterglow, my series of urban sunset photographs. All of these photos were made in New York City.
So often we dismiss cities as places where nature does not touch us, cannot touch us, because of the tall buildings, traffic, noise pollution, air pollution, and light pollution. We are usually shown glowing sunsets from the shore of an ocean or lake, or at the top of a hill surrounded by plains. It gives the impression a city-dweller is missing out on the beauty of life and must “escape” the city in order to get back in touch with it. It is that mindset, not the city itself, that separates city-dwellers from nature. The truth is nature remains all around us…we just have to make time to pay attention to it.
