I so prefer my drawings to my paintings and it is a never-ending struggle to make my paintings more drawing-like. This is a seven-foot drawing on canvas.
While I am not suggesting that this drawing looks real, for me it somehow feels real. So what does this say about the nature of reality?
We are captive to our own experience, perspective and anxieties that influence us as we fabricate the illusion of meaning with perceived certainty. (Got that?) This of course is exactly what I am interested in with my art. Lack of context, shared gaze and an uncertain emotional state all serve to create the ambiguity that I hope causes you to create the narrative.
