“Be My Eyes” is an application created by the Danish developer Hans Jørgen Wiberg which aims to help blind people in small everyday gestures.
Everything works very simply: when a person is in trouble and needs help, they can ask through the app, and they will be helped by a normally sighted person drawn randomly among members. When the call for help is accepted, the app transfers the video taken by the camera of the iPhone (the app is currently only available on iOS) to the display of the volunteer, who can then answer the questions that will be posed (read a label, recognise people in a photo, etc.).
Of course all of this is based on a relationship of mutual trust and respect; this is why, in order to avoid disappointment or detrimental behaviour towards blind people and those who want to help, both people can give a vote to the session, or report improper use of the app.
