What is 善. I take a moment to think about its meaning. But I'm neither an expert nor a Chinese.
善 is something good on morals or ethics with religious background. It is similar to "goodness" but it's a noun and an adjective. So it doesn't mean "enlightenment, wisdom, and creativity" directly in itself. For example, 善+行(act, action) is 善行 is good deed is also 善. The antonym of 善 is 悪(evil). But 善 on the fringe is not good either and it is similar to 悪. 中庸(Temperance or mean) is the best between 善 and 悪 on the fringe. "子曰、舜其大知也与。舜好問而好察爾言、隠悪而揚善、執其両端、用其中於民。其斯以為舜乎。 [中庸]" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doctrine_of_the_Mean
On buddhism, The antonym of 善 is "煩悩 earthly desires". It may be different from the traditional Chinese meaning. The source of 煩悩 is identified as the eight sufferings. The first four are "生 the other livings death for my life", "老 aging", "病 sickness or disease" and "死 death". Adding to the four, "愛別離苦 separation from loved ones", "怨憎会苦 crossing path with hating ones", "求不得苦 no access to something you long for", "五蘊盛苦 irrepressibility on mind and body". So in this case of "善", it is disengagement from "煩悩" and the way to achievement of enlightenment.
