-Still Walking-
In 2012 I visited my birthplace of Palestine for a few months. It had been a while since I visited. My little cousins weren't so little any more. The wrinkles in my grandmother's hands had grown deeper with time. I went with my dad, grandmother and cousin to look for the demolished village that my grandmother used to live before they were ran out by Zionist troops. We parked the car along the dirt road and my grandmother waited there with my cousin. She directed us to walk towards the rounded mountain and to look for some ruins that used to be part of the well. So my father and I walked and walked and walked. It was peaceful out there. Currently being used by Israel as farm land. We saw some deer in the distance. The sun was starting to set and we still couldn't find the ruins so we decided to turn around and head back to the car. We walked back defeated, we had hoped to find something marking the area of my grandmother's town but all remnants must have been removed. We reached my grandmother and cousin who has become worried that it was taking us so long. My grandmother asked my dad if he found it and he told her that we didn't. My dad tuned the car around and my grandmother was walking towards it slowly with what strength she had left. The sun has just set and the sky was subdued and everything was quiet. I paused for a moment watching her walk along. Then I quickly reached for my camera and snapped a few photos. #palestine #stillwalking #dusk #blackandwhite #grandmother
