Recently he picked up the threads again of his favourite craft: painting. But now as an artist. He inherited his artistic name from his father who used it to send his mother love letters during World War II and after that when he was abroad. Atolty means Across The Oceans Love To You. Juan Palacio’s work often hits you like a punch to the stomach: even if there’s nothing grotesque or truly obscene about his pictures, they can come at you like a scream. In many ways indebted to a punk essence, they bleed humanity and seem eager to share some of their secrets.
