How to become an amazing story writer
You are a character and you have a story, everyone and everything around you has story. Story of origin, of being; story of living the lives that we are blessed with.
Blessed are the ones who see what not every eye can see. Those who seek a better and deeper understanding of all the phenomena that happens around us. We actually live among stories, but not everyone is blessed to see those stories and pick their emotions.
If you think it’s a curse, know that it is not. Everything has a reason. Best writers are those who know how to wear the skin of others and how to live inside the characters that they develop. Sensitivity is a virtue that writers are often blessed with. Worry not on your journey to sharpen your writing skills. Follow these tips to become better story writer.
Start with writing the story that you have in mind, write and write freely without any barrier. Don’t worry about sequence, about twists that you ‘should’ be inserting at right situations. In the beginning write without any barrier. And make sure to write in one sitting.
In case of the short story, do it one day but if you are writing a novel, then take one season that can consist of two months or three months. And write in that season freely. Dig deeply and find all the information from story clusters in your mind.
Work on the main character of the story. The main character is the soul of your story so take some time and pay attention to all aspects of the character. Start with initial characteristics of the character. Decide what sort of story or plot you want main character to encounter, decide when a character will feel strongest in the circumstances, when a character will feel bravest and decides to take a decision and how the character will develop regarding its character attributes.
You should be able to see the transition in character, at the story end. Make sure that transition is clear, strong and smooth.
Introduce events in a systematic manner and connect them carefully to the main character.
Develop character archetype
Character archetypes are the villain, supportive characters and side kick characters. These are like the ornamental pieces in the story. They might have a small purpose, but those purposes will change the course of story, so give them right importance.
Well-developed characters are nuanced and complex. Make sure that you clearly assign purpose, motivation, and history to those characters. Sort them through their flaws, strengths, fear, interest and desires.
Add suspense and drama
Introduce dramatic elements and plan them like; if the main character introduces that drama or if he/she will encounter those situations. Add doubt, fear, and excitement to characters and make sure that you add a human element to them. But in the dramatic situation don’t over-focus on the flow of information as it will destroy the drama and suspense. Write my essay and write my story are different, beware of your online searching. Essay writing is different than story writing.
Don’t narrate, just show
Show the scenes, don’t just narrate them. The reader should be able to imagine the action in the situations. Add dialogues and conversations. Write in a conversational tone, especially when a character is thinking something.
