in the viral internet era, the birth of a social media alternative jumps from "this is something we'd like to see," to "that's an interesting idea, i'll check that out and see how it shapes up," to "HOLY SHIT THIS IS THE ANSWER!! THIS IS REALLY IT THIS TIME!!" in one week or less. people are selling their invite codes on ebay. and the motherfuck hasn't cleared beta. no matter the infrastructural concept, or what operating philosophy you write into your mission statement/manifesto, we will always be dealing with the people that use it.
