My 14yo asked me to take him to "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2" last night.
I had been underwhelmed by its predecessor — "Mockingjay, Part 1" — but I was blown away by the finale. When the end credits rolled, I shouted "BRAVO!" and we, the audience, applauded.
I greatly enjoyed the plot and some of the dialogue, and I accepted the "juvenile science fiction" setting and props.
Most of all, I'm so glad of the themes. I'm so glad that this popular juvenile fiction comes with such a complex and unsatisfying view of war, instead of taking almost any of the many easy outs along its path.
